Air Force Academy vision includes raising tourist levels to pre-9/11 numbers
The Air Force Academy’s visitor center would move outside the gates of the 18,500-acre campus under a plan tied to the Colorado Springs City for Champions proposal.
The academy announced Thursday that the $20 million attraction would be located just east of the academy’s northern gate at exit 156 off Interstate 25. The academy has been studying the visitor center proposal for months in a bid to boost tourist traffic to the school, which has fallen off in the wake of post-9/11 security measures.
