Colorado Sports and Event Center

Colorado Sports and Event Center

Southwest Downtown Urban Renewal Area

OVERVIEW

Despite being home to half the country’s Olympic sports National Governing Bodies, as well as native and visiting sports enthusiasts, Colorado Springs has very limited urban sports venues. Many of the local National Governing Bodies must venture outside the state to host events such as annual qualifiers, time trials and championships.

The Colorado Sports and Event Center will consist of a 10,000 seat outdoor multi-use stadium accommodating outdoor sports such as soccer, rugby and lacrosse, and an indoor venue with a flexible hard-court configuration for six basketball courts and seating arrangements for up to 3,000 spectators. These sporting facilities, co-located with the United States Olympic Museum, will catalyze economic development in an area key to the vitality of the entire Colorado Springs community.
